about

Music composed, performed & produced by Ulises Labaronnie
(c) 2023
Recorded at U_estudio except the end synth of the album, recorded at Laguna de los Tres, El Chaltén,Patagonia Argentina.

AONKEN is the Aonikenk (Tehuelche) word for South. They were the people descendants from the very first inhabitants of Patagonia.

This album is inspired by the incredible experience of getting to know Los Glaciers National Park, the largest protected natural area in Argentina, where the immense glaciers and the iconic Mount Fitz Roy or Chaltén are located.
The music was intended as a contemplative Symphony for electronic instruments.
In its parts are the various emotions, amazements and moments of immense peace that these extraordinary places deliver. Although part of the inspiration also included my readings about the Myth of Elal, the most important legend of these inhabitants and these geographies, but I did not want to turn the work into a mythological epic but rather combine the mythological and the naturalistic in my emotions, and experience sensations that translate into music.
This work is also accompanied by an audiovisual entirely filmed and edited by me, which reflects the experience.

The final solo synth of the album were recorded at the mountain, after climbing before the dawn to see and film the very first light at the highest glaciar lake in front of Fitz Roy peak.

This is the third part of SYMBIOSIS, a conceptual work that unites ambient, experimental electronics, travel, performances and filming.

My eternal gratitude to Ingrid Lopez for all her support and love in her travels and visual records.
